My decision to open Arya Derm comes out of a desire to marry high quality dermatologic care with an unwavering commitment to service. My inspiration? You. Working with patients in SF these past 3 years has been invigorating because you’re brilliant. You’re well-informed. And you’re passionate about your skin. Appointments & Insurance

How do I book an appointment?
It’s easy – send us an email at or give us a call at 415-329-5100. We’re happy to help!

Does your office accept insurance?
Yes. We strive to be as accessible as possible and we have in-network credentials for a few select insurance plans. Cosmetic services generally aren’t covered by insurance.

Which insurance plans do you accept?
We’re proud to work with Medicare and the following PPO plans:
— Aetna
— Anthem Blue Cross
— Cigna
— Blue Shield of California
— First Health
— Pacific Health Care System

What if I have an insurance plan not mentioned above?
If you have an insurance that’s not included in the above mentioned list, then we are an out of network provider. You’ll be responsible for the full cost of your visit. We’re more than happy to submit claims to your insurance carrier on your behalf for potential reimbursement.

Policies & Procedures

Why do you need my credit card on file?
We keep a credit card on file to make your experience seamless and to save trees. Oftentimes, there is a small balance remaining after a visit which is not completely covered by your insurance provider.

It’s no different from keeping your credit card on file with Uber/Lyft or providing your credit card number when you make a hotel reservation. We will email you a PDF explaining these charges and we’ll always obtain your verbal or written authorization prior to charging balances of more than $150.

Do you store credit cards securely?
Absolutely. Credit card information is stored in our PCI-compliant payment gateway, which employs the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. Once entered, our staff cannot access your credit card number – only the last 4 digits are visible. You’re of course welcome to change the card on file at any time, just let us know.

What is your cancellation policy?
In order to preserve the integrity of our schedule and to reserve each individual patient’s full appointment time with our doctor, we require that you notify us at least 1 business day prior to your scheduled appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule. We charge a $100 dollar no-show fee if you miss your scheduled visit and fail to notify us one business day prior to your scheduled appointment.

Why do you charge a $100 no-show fee?
Trust us: the last thing we want to do is collect a no-show fee. We’d much rather you show up for your scheduled appointment or, if something comes up, notify us at least 1 business day in advance. As a small, startup practice operating in an expensive market, it’s critical for us to maintain the integrity of our schedule. We never double-book appointment slots. When we receive advanced notice from you that you can no longer make your appointment, it allows us to accommodate patients with urgent medical needs. No-shows prevent those patients from being seen. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

What if I’m late?
If you are more than 10 minutes late to your visit, we’ll do our very best to accommodate you. We hope you understand that you may have an extended wait time. In the event that we can’t accommodate you, we’ll help you reschedule to the soonest available appointment time.

Products & Services

Are you a Medical Spa?
No. All medical visits and major procedures – like lasers, injectables, surgeries and excisions – are performed by a board-certified dermatologist. Board-certified dermatologists are certified by the American Board of Dermatology after passing the board examination and completing an intense, highly competitive dermatology residency. We highly recommend that you see a board certified dermatologist for your medical skincare needs. For cosmetics, we recommend seeing a board certified dermatologist or a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Although a number of “medical spas” offer cosmetic treatments for cheaper prices, what they often fail to tell you is that these services are usually performed by non-physicians, or by physicians who are not board certified in dermatology or plastic surgery. How do you handle prescriptions?
If our dermatologist determines that you’re in need of a prescription, we can have it electronically sent to the pharmacy of your choice. Over the past few years, insurance companies have been curbing their reimbursements for skincare medications. In some cases, they’ve stopped covering medications altogether, resulting in a surprisingly high out-of-pocket bill when you arrive at your pharmacy. As a convenience to you, we dispense a number of prescription medications in-house. Although we don’t process our in-house medications through insurance, we’ve priced them to maximize convenience and affordability.

What cosmetic services do your dermatologists offer?
Our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Krishnan, offers the following cosmetic services:
— Dermal fillers (Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero, Radiesse)
— Neuromodulators (Botox and Dysport)
— Treatments for age spots
— Treatments for blood vessels and vascular lesions
— Treatments for skin rejuvenation
— Microneedling
— Chemical peels

Do you sell skincare products?
We work together as a team to select a portfolio of medical grade skincare products with proven clinical results. These are products that we, as a staff, believe in and use ourselves. We understand that some of these products can be expensive and we work hard to tailor a product regimen that meets your budget and skin care objectives.

Do I have to buy expensive products in order to achieve success?
No. We believe that great skin can be achieved at all price points. We will never pressure you to purchase products from us. Having said that, many of the products that we offer are available only to healthcare professionals because they contain numerous active ingredients with proven clinical efficacy. We’re here to help!

I find the exact same products sold cheaper on – why are these products more expensive in your store?
Chances are, they’re not the same product. Most Medical-grade skincare products are authorized to be sold only by registered healthcare professionals. Amazon and other internet retailers are not licensed retailers for these products. What that means is that the products have been diverted and therefore may be diluted, expired or even counterfeit. This issue has become so prevalent, the FBI issued a consumer warning in 2014.

Additionally, they may not be safe to use or perform as tested. Given the active ingredients in these products, we highly recommend that you purchase them from an authorized reseller. Arya Derm takes no responsibility for side effects arising from products purchased at unauthorized retailers.
